Bypass the Refrigerator Filter: Most of the times, bypassing the water filter in your refrigerator is easy. The first step is to locate your fridge filter; it might be inside the refrigerator door or behind the grille at the bottom of the refrigerator. If you find that the filter is located behind the grille, you can withdraw it by turning the round filter cover counterclockwise until the handle is vertical to the floor, and then pull it out.

If the filter is inside the door, you can push the release button beside it to remove it. After withdrawing the filter, you can check with a cup whether the dispenser is dispensing water or not.  If it is dispensing water, your fridge has a built-in bypass, and you’re done with bypassing. If it does not, then you will need a bypass plug.

 

Bypass Plug:  The most important thing you need for bypass plug is your refrigerator model number and name. If you do not have the specific information regarding the model number, you can get this information on the outside of the fridge or inside the fridge door.

After you get the model number of your fridge, you will have to find the compatible bypass plug. You can easily find the bypass plug compatible with your fridge by searching online.

Once you get your bypass plug for your refrigerator, you will notice it looks similar to the fridge water filter.  You can then use this plug by slotting it into the filter area after removing the filter. Or, you can secure the plug to the same valve behind the grille.

 

The last thing you need is to check if there are no leaks in your water dispenser.  You are now done with bypassing water filter on your refrigerator.
